Rachel MacKriell, DNP, CNM, ARNP
Rachel is a certified nurse midwife and advanced practice registered nurse, licensed in Washington State, and is very excited to be joining the team at Ranier Valley Birth and Health Center. She values the collaborative care model here and feels privileged to be able to work together and share knowledge with other team members.
Rachel has had a lifelong passion for pregnancy and birth care and has spent the last decade immersed in birth work, starting with training as a lactation supporter under the National Health Service in the UK, and then midwifery studies both in the UK and US. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Seattle University, with a doctoral project evaluating the effectiveness of vaginal breech birth training.
She has had both a gentle home water birth and a very medicalized hospital birth and is grateful for both experiences for how they allow her to support birthing people to have beautiful and empowered births in a variety of settings and circumstances.
Rachel loves working with clients antenatally, providing education and support for creating positive birth experiences, and is honored to be able to support birthing people and families with reproductive healthcare throughout the lifespan. She believes providing access to quality reproductive healthcare is a revolutionary act and is committed to continuing to promote social justice through healthcare.
When she’s not working, Rachel loves hanging out with her two kiddos and enjoying the beauty of the PNW.
